Coming Back

Good Evening everyone,
It's hard to believe but it has been about 4 years since I've posted. I've deleted most of the old content and plan on posting regularly. As a fly-fisherman and tyer I have grown immensely in that time and plan on passing on all of the knowledge and information I have soaked up on my journey. This blog will also act as a type of journal for myself. Good times and memories will be recorded forever. I look forward to all future adventures and learning.

Stockie Smackdown..

You all know what time of the year it is ! Hunting Season Stockie season. A friend and I decided to hit the Big Flatbrook in New Jersey to try our luck on the big fall stocked fish. Stocking came a week early this year because of a disease outbreak that affected a section of the Pequest Trout Hatchery. The fish, stocked rainbow and brook trout were said to be on average 14-16 inches but we were pleasantly surprised by what we did catch. Dry-dropper was the obvious way to go with the water being low and clear and we began to catch sight of the monster fish holding in very little water. Between the two of us we caught about half a dozen fish and dropped a few, but the fish that were caught were 18+ inches. The only word I can use to describe the fish that were caught are hogs. Fat hogs. It was an exceptional feeling to catch those monster fish after catching 5 inch wild browns for the whole summer.. I cannot wait to hook into those fish after they have a few months to get bigger and stronger in the water. In the end, it was a great trip and a good way to start the fall fishing season, and more importantly a great way to start this blog!

Here are some pictures of the fish caught.

Welcome to My Blog...I'm new here too!

Hello everybody! My name is Johnny Miller. I've been fly fishing for 6 years now and I've been catching fish for about 4 of those years. I am currently in high school and reside in North East Pennsylvania. I fish at least once or twice a week mostly for trout but I also pursue anything that swims. I intend on posting fly fishing adventure updates, as well as fly tying tutorials and tips. In the near future I hope to review products and test new ones.
